Slasticanica Marcipan, Lapad, Croatia


We like to sample the local cakes when possible. This is best done at a designated cake shop or bakery. Desserts in restaurant are rarely something special. We went to a bakery in Lapad on a Tuesday around 17.00. The bakery had just reopened after at midday break.

🍽️ Custard Slice 〰️ An interesting cake with a bit of jiggle to it. The taste was great, we did find that it may be improved with some dark jam. Cherry, blueberry or some forrest fruit could work. Raspberry would be to sour in our opinion and strawberry to mellow. 
🍽️ Fantasy Cake ✔️ A creamy cake and our favourite. It reminded Z of the Kinder brand with the layers of darker and lighter chocolates. H loved the layer combination.
🍽️ Punch Cake ✔️A great cake, but a bid boring compared to the others.
🍽️ Bombica (white) ✔️Bombica (brown) ✔️a plain and a chocolaty version of this kind of cake. We guess it is made from yesterdays leftover cakes. It is a phenomenon we have in Denmark too, typically the Danish version has rum (essence or real) as the flavouring. The Bombicas were well balanced not too wet and not too dry.

One cake pr. person would be plenty. We just wanted to taste everything.

Our meal was accompanied by a Coca Cola.

The service was nice. Do note that this establishment does not take credit cards, cash only.
